Journal 6- The Cherry Blossom Haunting

Effy sat on the edge of the bed. Her head in her hands to muffle her sobs. He continued to haunt her and she could understand why, but if she moved on so could he.

The light August breeze carried the smells of the cherry blossoms and the strong smell of chlorine. "Effy you know that I would love you forever" Cook said pulling her closer to him. If only he knew what I was thinking right now, Effy thought. Sensing her coldness Cook sighed and looked out into the pool. "I would fight for you Effy, no matter what you would always be mine" Cook said smiling and placing Effy’s hand in his. Abruptly moving her hand away, Effy felt her heart fall to the pit of her stomach, but she had to do what was right for the both of them. "I can’t do this anymore, this relationship is unhealthy, and I think it’s time we both moved on" Effy said her eyes trained on the water in front of her. Feeling his chest heave in and out Cook, who was on the verge of tears, hurriedly gathered his things and left, not wanting to act out the horrible thought he had of pushing her into the deep water.

The next morning Effy looked at her phone and noticed 10 miss calls and 30 text messages. Why couldn't he get the message that she didn't want to be with him. Grabbing her phone Effy went into her kitchen to start a pot of coffee. "Why won't you pick up" "I’m driving over to your house right now". The next message is what caused her to drop her phone. The sound of tires screeching. And honking, with Cook yelling her name before the phone went dead.

The rain began beating down on the window and the tears rolled down her cheek. "What is it sweetheart, did you have a bad dream." Freddy said as he patted her back. “You would have plenty of those, have you told him. HAVE YOU TOLD HIM THAT YOU KILLED ME?" Cook yelled. Effy broke down some more, and Freddie sat on the bed bewildered at her current state. "Cry some more Effy, you have done this to me" Cook snickered. "SHUT UP, SHUT UP!" Effy yelled, and when she opened her eyes, Freddy sat still not knowing what to do.  “You can’t keep doing this to me Effy, you have to tell me what is wrong.” Freddie pleaded. Without answering, Effy got up to sit by the pool, noticing the cherry blossom leaves from her neighbors yard floating on the surface of the pool, Effy knew that no matter how many times she tried to clean them away, they would always come back.

Great perspective on the theme of relationships! Your use of the elements of fiction really brings out the emotional intensity! Overall is an excellent piece! Keep up the good work!
